Award-winning utilities software package adds enhanced security and performance features

PLEASANTON, Calif. - October 12, 2006 - Avanquest Software, a leading developer and publisher of business and consumer software for the global PC market, today announced the release of Fix-It Utilities 7 Professional, a comprehensive easy-to-use application that enables even novice PC enthusiasts to diagnose, repair and prevent system problems, ensuring optimal performance. Equipped with three user licenses, a single copy of Fix-It Utilities 7 will keep up to three computers in any household or small business running like new.

Fix-It Utilities’ powerful system optimization capabilities save time and money by allowing PC users of all skill levels to quickly and accurately troubleshoot and solve their PC problems without hiring a technician or making costly customer service phone calls.

“Taking preventative measures to protect against spyware and virus threats is critical to maintaining a healthy and efficient PC, but often people neglect to run other equally important, routine disk maintenance programs,” said Scott Feldstein, vice president, Avanquest Software Utility Products. “Utilizing the comprehensive tools that make up Fix-It Utilities 7 guarantees the highest level of PC protection at a minimal expense.”

Fix-It Utilities offers a comprehensive solution for malware detection and prevention with its integrated Virus Scanner Pro and Anti-Spyware tools that detect and remove virus and spyware threats without damaging the user’s critical data. The use of real-time system monitoring and software updates further ensures that the latest malware programs will be isolated before they’re able to do any damage.

The enhanced edition of Fix-It Utilities also features Startup Commander™, an innovative program that shrinks the time it takes for a PC to start, by reducing the number of non-essential resident programs and disabling malware used by hackers to gain control of systems. Often overall system performance improves by removing these undesired programs.

Also bundled with Fix-It Utilities 7 is Recovery Commander, an advanced data recovery tool for correcting major file damage that can prevent a system from booting, and PowerDesk, the award winning file manager program that replaces Windows Explorer. Fix-It Utilities 7 also comes with a 1-year subscription of anti-virus and anti-spyware updates and lets users schedule additional protection scans for times the PC is not usually being used.

In addition to regular PC maintenance, Fix-It Utilities 7 features a complete schedule of preventive measures for diagnosing hardware problems, system clean-up and registry optimization including:

  • SMARTDiskCheck: Notifies users of hard-disk performance deterioration which can lead to data loss and complete drive failure. Works with any SMART compatible hard drive.
  • PCDiagnostics: Checks and reports on installed system hardware including memory, hard drives, USB, network cards, video, sound cards, DVD drives and more; pinpoints errors and identifies the cause of trouble.
  • SystemExplorer: Scans the PC system and provides a complete list of system statistics.
  • SystemMonitors: Examines system resources and issues warnings if they reach critical levels.
  • Rescue Disk: Fix-It Utilities 7 comes bundled with a preconfigured system boot disk for rescuing computers that are unable to properly initialize.

Fix-It-Utilities Professional 7 has a suggested retail price of $39.95 and is available at leading U.S. and Canadian retail outlets and directly from Avanquest USA. Existing users will be able to upgrade from prior versions to version 7 directly from Avanquest’s website at Additional information on Fix-It Utilities 7 Professional is available at
